The Bible says about Dorcas in Acts 9:36, "This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds which she did." Peter said about Jesus in Acts 10:38, "Who went about doing good." Paul wrote in Titus 3:1, "Remind be ready unto every good work," Earlier in Titus 2:7 Paul admonished Titus to "show yourself a pattern of good works," and in 2:14, Paul tells us that we should be "zealous for good works." In Titus 3:8, 14, we are told to "maintain good works." In the sermon on the mount (Matthew 5:16) Jesus said, "Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." With all Scripture has to say about "good works" how could anyone conclude that it is alright for a Christian to sit around and do nothing. I love the words of that old song, "Each day I'll do a golden deed, by helping those who are in need." I guarantee that you will feel better about yourself when you come to the end of a day, knowing you have done some good for others. Make that call, write that note, send that card - there's a multiplicity of ways we can help and encourage others. Many of you are like Dorcas already, full of good works. Let's all be like Jesus, who went about doing good!
